Being a log of the genealogical, research, book-collecting, book-making, and book-fixing adventures of Kylie

About

finding ...

The second daughter of the second daughter of the second daughter of the second daughter, I've always had an interest in and a love for all things family.  An art history and library science student, I've learned plenty of research skills - which I have applied in what I believe to be the best way possible - in finding families, both my own and others.

and binding.

Books are my second family.  I truly believe that books hold a type of magic - Mortimer Folchart says it better than I ever could:
If you take a book with you on a journey, an odd thing happens: The book begins collecting your memories. And forever after you have only to open that book to be back where you first read it. It will all come into your mind with the very first words: the sights you saw in that place, what it smelled like, the ice cream you ate while you were reading it... yes, books are like flypaper—memories cling to the printed page better than anything else.
 Cornelia Funke, Inkheart

Books hold onto not only your own memories, but memories of everyone who has written, read, touched, loved, and learned from that book.  Beyond that, I think that the book as a physical object is a beautiful thing.  Anything that has anything to do with books, I want part of it - I am a writer, a book-binder, a book-collector, and a book-doctor.

I am Kylie, and welcome to my life.

  1. I think you mean "second daughter of a second daughter. . . " It's not quite accurate if you put child there instead.
